Sally Williams

Born in England, I came to reside in Canada via South Africa and Australia.

Paper, pencils and paint have been lifelong companions to my wandering heart, allowing me to document incredibly varied landscapes, flora and fauna.

An introduction to water colour painting sparked an ongoing obsession with luminous light—both gentle and vibrant—and glowing greys through transparent layers. While venturing back into mixed media and acrylic, watercolour will always have my heart.

My inspiration comes from travel, environmental issues, nature and the comfort of memory. I would describe my work as semi-representational in style, allowing me to breathe life into an emotional experience (real, or wished for). 

Creating the art is what sparks the most joy and, if I’m happy with the result, I see that as a happy byproduct of the creative process.
